The Best Moisturizer for Mild to Severely Dry Skin

There are many reasons why many of us may suffer from mild to severely dry skin. Sometimes it happens mainly during the winter months when the air is drier, there’s a drop in humidity and the wind is stronger and more frequent.  Additionally, our skin may become drier and sensitive all-year-round due to chronic health related conditions. Sometimes cosmetics with harsh chemicals or fragrances can cause dry skin and irritation. 

Mild to severely dry skin can happen to anyone regardless of geographical localization, ethnic background, gender and age. This is why it is extremely important to do your research on your individual skin condition. Relief from symptoms such as itchiness, dryness, inflammation and irritation will depend on which skincare product can provide a solution to those unpleasant symptoms.  I, the CEO of CapeQueen Cosmetics suffer from a chronic condition called psoriasis; there is no cure. Therefore, treatments to sooth and reduce flare-ups were my number 1 priority. Unfortunately, the only options provided to me by my doctor and dermatologist were to receive a shot that will suppress my immune system. Additionally, I couldn’t expect to see results until a few months of receiving the shot. This means for months at a time, I would be more susceptible to harmful viruses and bacterial infections while awaiting results from the shot. This was not an option for me; especially because I am a fulltime healthcare worker, mother, wife, stepmom while I maintain my own business on the side. I can’t afford to put my health at risk. Another option was to use a steroid cream. However, just as the shot, the cream had long-term side effects that would negatively impact my health from the inside out. I used this cream for years. As a result, I still have permanent dark patches on my elbows and arms roughly 7 years later. Needless to say, I stopped using this cream. The only other option presented to me was UV light therapy. I heard this method was effective however, it still can take many weeks sometimes months to see results. Additionally, a referral for the treatment resulted in an out-of-pocket expense for each treatment. I had several treatments in a month and each visit soon became a financial burden on me. 

These options just weren’t working for me and by this time, I had severely neglected my own selfcare due to the many capes I wear on a day-to-day. After extensive research on my skin condition, I felt compelled to find a way to provide myself with relief from my symptoms quickly and effectively. I am happy to say that I can now provide a product solution to sooth and moisturize not just for my skin but others like me who suffer from dry skin, psoriasis and eczema.
